Garden & Lawn Equipment Check Out Policy
Items may be checked out by patrons 18 years or older holding a Milan-Berlin Library District library card.
Equipment checks out for 3 days. Items are non-renewable.
Equipment is available on a waiting list basis. The Milan-Berlin Library District does not make dated reservations for equipment. If an item is available at the time of inquiry, or when an item is returned, patrons will have 1 business day to pick up the item on hold before the hold is released and the item moves to the next person on the list. Holds for equipment must be made via telephone or in-person inquiry.
Patrons are responsible for all transportation of equipment. Items need to be picked up and returned to the Milan branch of the Milan-Berlin Library District only. Items are not eligible to travel via inter-library delivery.
The Milan-Berlin Library District is not liable for damage to personal property caused by the transport or use of borrowed equipment.
Patrons are responsible for all utility and consumable costs associated with using the equipment while in their possession.
The Milan-Berlin Library District is not responsible for injury caused by use or misuse of borrowed equipment. Equipment is provided solely for its manufactured intended use. Patrons are encouraged to read and understand all included instructions prior to operation.
All power tools are electric for the safety of storage and transportation. The Milan-Berlin Library District provides appropriate extension cords for equipment. Failure to use provided cord may result in malfunction of equipment or bodily injury.
Patrons are encouraged to inspect equipment prior to use and report any malfunctioning equipment to the library. Do not use if a malfunction is suspected. Do not attempt to fix any suspected malfunction.
We understand that equipment will get dirty during regular use. The Milan-Berlin Library District expects patrons to remove any excess soil, water, or debris prior to returning. For example, a damp rag should be able to wipe away excessive dirt from the tines of the rototiller. If an item is returned in an unsatisfactory condition, a cleaning fee of $10 will be charged to the patrons account.
Patrons may be financially responsible for any damage to equipment beyond standard wear.
Library staff reserve the right to refuse any requests to checkout equipment.
