This series focuses on mythic creatures who thrive in seas, lakes, rivers, and

Touch-A-Truck at the Library [ C ][ YA ][ A ]
Join us as we kick off Summer Reading Program with a Touch-a-Truck event at the Milan Public Library. This community event will put you in the driver’s seat of a wide variety of vehicles and let you take the wheel. Explore all those cars and trucks you’ve always wanted to “play” with up close, and experience a day of fun for the whole family!

DIY Mermaid Ombre Soap *RR [ A ]
Time to get your hands a little dirty as we offer our beginner’s DIY Mermaid Ombre Soap program. You’ll not only learn a new hobby, but you will also get your own bar of soap to show off to your friends and family. All materials are provided. Limited seating and registration required.

Join us for a fin-tastic event all about sea life presented by a special guest from the Toledo Zoo. It’s shore to be turtle-y radical! All ages welcome.

DIY Miniature Water Effects Class *RR [ YA ][ A ]
Interested in learning how to make water effects for your miniature craft project? This class will cover the basics, and you’ll have a finished pond to take home. Perfect for anything from wargames to dollhouses. Registration required.

DIY Sea Glass Ring Holder *RR [ A ]
Are you looking for an evening craft that you can use everyday? Make your own beautiful sea glass ring holder to store your rings or earrings. These handmade crafts will be a treasured addition to your bedside table. All materials are provided. Limited seating and registration required by 7/1.

Bring a towel and expect to get soaked playing games with water balloons at the library! Young Adults ages 11-18 are welcome and encouraged to bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Mermaid Story Time [ C ]
Join us for a magical Story Time with our very special guest, Cetea the Mermaid! She will read a sweet mermaid story book, and we will do a special craft. There will be plenty of time to take pictures with Cetea, so wear your favorite sea faring clothes or mermaid tails and join us!

Arrgh: A History of Piracy on the Great Lakes [ YA ][ A ]
Join Ellen Kennedy of the National Museum of the Great Lakes for a historical and cultural re-examination of piracy and its implications for understanding Great Lakes history. No parrots, nor peg legs, but a healthy dose of thievery, mutiny, and other unsavory tales.

Join us for an action-packed, high seas adventure around the Milan Square where you will search for clues and pick up treasures along the way. All ages welcome. At least one adult participant per group. Registration required prior to 7/11. (Please register each participant.)

Join us for a single session game in an underwater setting using Dungeons & Dragons, 5th Edition. Pre-generated characters will be used, all materials supplied. Pizza and snacks provided. Ages 12-99+.

Create your own 3D ocean topography map with just paper and a simple frame!

Hawaiian Luau at the Milan Public Library [ C ][ YA ][ A ]
Celebrate the end of Summer Reading Program with a Luau at the Milan Public Library. Manivic’s Hawaiian Dance Company of Parma Heights will demonstrate the Hula and French Polynesian Tahitian Ori Dance with authentic Hawaiian/Polynesian dancers. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt, and bring your folding chair, camera, and aloha spirit as you learn the beauty, tradition, and culture behind the music and dance of the Polynesian Islands. Audience participation is optional. “Hang loose” with crafts, refreshments, games, and lots of smiles along the way. All ages are welcome.
